Rocky Mountain Water Conference 2026 - Keystone, Colorado

Maji participated in the Rocky Mountain Water Conference 2026 in Keystone, Colorado.

The conference was a great opportunity to meet operators, process engineers, plant managers, utilities directors, and other wastewater professionals from across the Rocky Mountain region - all in a pretty amazing location.

One of the main highlights for Maji was a joint presentation with Greg Venette (utilities director) and Tanner Thorson (plant superintendent) about the implementation of Maji at the City of Louisville, Colorado WWTP.

The session, “Automating Biomass Interpretation - Lessons Learned Implementing AI-Powered Biomass Analysis at a Municipal WWTP,” focused on how biomass analysis can be integrated into normal plant operations and connected with process and operational data.

Several examples from the joint work in Louisville were presented, including DO optimization, foaming and settling issues, and the way biological observations can support day-to-day operational decisions.

A key part of the presentation was also the plant perspective - how the approach fits into the work of operators and process teams without adding unnecessary operational overhead, while helping preserve process knowledge and build a clearer biomass baseline over time.

After more than a year of collaboration, the conference was also a great opportunity to finally spend time face to face with the Louisville operations team. A detailed plant tour helped deepen the understanding of the facility, its configuration, and the operational conditions behind the data and biomass analyses.

The Louisville team also received the RMWEA Plant Performance Award for outstanding results in plant operations, maintenance, and public relations. After working closely with the team, this recognition was not surprising.

The visit to Colorado also included meetings and visits with other wastewater professionals and plants in the region, as Maji continues to expand its activity across Colorado and the broader Rocky Mountain area.
