Wastewater Microorganisms and Filaments Gallery

Maji recently launched a new wastewater microorganisms and filaments gallery on the Maji website.

The gallery is a practical visual reference for activated sludge, built from Maji’s own microscopy database and work across municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. It includes high-quality images of common microorganisms and filamentous bacteria, with short explanations about what each finding may generally be associated with in biological treatment.

The goal is to give operators, process engineers, lab teams, students, and consultants a clearer starting point when looking at activated sludge samples. It can help users recognize major biological groups, compare microscopy images, and better understand the language used in biomass interpretation.

Of course, microscopy images alone do not tell the full process story. The real value comes from connecting what is seen under the microscope with operational parameters, plant configuration, historical trends, and the unique biomass behavior of each facility.

That is where Maji’s broader platform comes in. Maji integrates microscopic imagery with process and operational data to build a long-term Biomass ID for each plant, track biological trends over time, support earlier detection of process issues, shorten troubleshooting, and help teams make clearer operational decisions.

The gallery is one open resource within that broader approach: making biological observations easier to recognize, while keeping the full process interpretation connected to data, context, and trends over time.

Check it out under Resources -> Microorganisms Gallery on the website.
